ASUS Padfone Running Android 4.0 Handset & Tablet Hands On
ASUS Padfone http://www.netbooknews.com We were able to get some hands on time with ASUS Padfone running Android 4.0, it is still under development and original Transformer owners will be happy to hear that they'll be able to use their dock with the upcoming Tegra 3 tablet.
Tablet PC with Windows 8 will be worth between $ 599 to $ 899
Company and Intel have Maicrosoft will soon announce the minimum cost of tablets running on Windows 8, and built on a platform of Intel Clover Trail. Since none of these company still does not want to reduce the cost of its component systems, it is now considering the current settings margin, we can assume that the price per tablet with Windows 8 will range from 600 to 900 dollars. This may have a negative impact on sales of devices, since the difference with ultrabukami, which relies on Intel and components for which it is prepared to lower the price is very low. The tablet will have the advantage of supporting a huge number of programs already written for the OS family of Windows, but will lose a number of parameters ultrabuku. Among the advantages of the latter it is worth noting a large screen size, the hardware keyboard and possibly a larger hard disk. Will they have greater mobility tablet in order to overcome these gains laptop is not clear. compete with the iPad and tablets based on Android operating system at a cost of over $ 600 apiece devices on Windows 8 with Intel chipsets will not. The difference in performance is not great, but the difference in price can negate the advantage of backwards compatibility with the desktop. Company Samsung, Acer, ASUS and Lenovo are ready to engage in the creation of such devices, despite the rather high price, but even reducing their own profits, they are unlikely to achieve the price at which most users would be willing to buy a tablet with Windows 8 and on the platform Intel Clover Trail .
ASUS denies the existence of a tablet with 3G Transformer Prime
ASUS has no plans to release a model tablet Transformer Prime with established 3G-modem. Earlier this version of the device was reported in an informal roadmap of the company. However, the company executive told Focus Taiwan, which at the moment of such a device does not exist in the company's plans. The possibility of n is not completely denied, but said that the family Transformer tablets in the future there will be a model with 3G and "other high-tech products." What kind of devices were meant to clarify the representative of ASUS was not. At the moment the family tablets ASUS Transformer includes three models: the original Transformer with 3G-module, and without it, and a new Transformer Prime. It is therefore logical to assume that the company will release it with the module installed. In the meantime, it was officially announced plans to release ASUS Transformer Prime 700 series, which differs screen with support for resolutions up to 1080p, rear panel with a new design and a wireless module with improved characteristics. On the issue of 3G version officially nothing was reported. In contrast, at the end of December 2011 the German office, ASUS has stated that the model with support of UMTS networks will not, because the demand for such plates are too small to release them made sense.

The Asus unveiled its 7in tablet on Monday at CES with a price tag of just $249 (£160) and the lack of availability in the UK is likely to leave many consumers disappointed.

This will be formally announced at Mobile World Congress [MWC] next month," John Swatton, marketing manager for Asus in the UK told The INQUIRER.

Asus gave THE INQUIRER a sneak peek at the the Padfone, which comes in two parts. Users will get a smartphone running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and be able to slot this into the back of a 10in tablet that displays content directly from the handset.
The Padfone debuted at Computex last year, and although Asus has yet to reveal its full specifications, it did confirm that the smartphone and tablet components will share the SIM card, processor and operating system.
"The 10in tablet is not intended to be a standalone tablet, but it will have some features that can be used independently of the phone. Full specifications together with pricing and availability date will be announced at MWC," Swatton said.
He also confirmed that the firm's highly anticipated Transformer Prime hybrid device will start shipping in the UK on 12 January and that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for it will be made available almost immediately.

Kodak sues HTC, Apple over patent infringement
The two smartphone and tablet vendors are infringing on its digital imaging technology, the company alleges
Struggling Eastman Kodak is alleging that Apple's and HTC's smartphones and tablets infringe on its digital imaging technology, and has filed a complaint and lawsuits with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York, it said on Tuesday.
The complaint to the ITC claims that some of Apple's iPhones, iPads, and iPods, and HTC's smartphones and tablets, infringe Kodak patents related to technology for transmitting images.
Kodak also alleges that HTC's smartphones infringe on a patent related to a method for previewing images, which is already the subject of pending actions against Apple.
Separately, Kodak also filed suits against Apple and HTC in U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York alleging the same infringement, it said.
Four patents are the basis for Kodak's actions, including one for "automatically transmitting images from an electronic camera to a service provider using a network configuration file" and another patent for "capturing digital images to be transferred to an email address."
Kodak wants the ITC to stop the import of products that infringe on its patents, and has asked the District Court to stop Apple and HTC from infringing on the patents and award it damages.
Kodak has had numerous discussions with both companies in an attempt to resolve this issue, but has failed to reach an agreement, it said. The company's goal isn't to disrupt the availability of Apple's and HTC's products, but to get "fair compensation for the unauthorized use" of its technology, it said.
An HTC spokeswoman declined to comment until the company had reviewed the complaint. Apple didn't answer a request for a comment.
Kodak has already licensed patents related to its digital imaging technology to more than 30 companies, including LG Electronics, Motorola, Samsung Electronics and Nokia, it said.
The company is also using the technology in its own products, including two new cameras that were launched at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
Toward the end of last year, Kodak lowered projections for its full-year revenue and year-end cash balance, and on Jan. 3 warned that it could face delisting from the New York Stock Exchange, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The company has warned that performance this year will depend on it selling its digital imaging patents to raise cash for future investments, and there have been reports that the company is preparing to seek bankruptcy protection.
In this age of intellectual property lawsuits, patents have proven to be a very valuable commodity. For example, last year, Nortel sold 6,000 patents and patent applications for $4.5 billion to a consortium consisting of Apple, EMC, Ericsson, Microsoft, Research In Motion and Sony, following a bidding war with Google, which later made a $12.5 billion bid to buy Motorola Mobility. The reasoning behind that deal is in part to better protect Android from patent lawsuits.

Intel Raises Bar on Smartphones, Tablets and Ultrabook™ Devices
Strikes Multi-year, Multi-Device Strategic Partnership with Motorola Mobility*, Including Smartphones that Motorola Will Begin to Ship in 2H 2012
Lenovo K800 Smartphone Based on Intel® Technology Available in Second Quarter 2012 in China
Intel Corporation announced a number of advancements across its smartphone business, including a multi-year, multi-device strategic relationship with Motorola Mobility*, Inc. and a handset by Lenovo* based on the company’s new Intel® Atom™ processor platform. This next generation of devices will expand the computing experience beyond anything realized today. Two Ultrabook concept designs powered by “Ivy Bridge” were demonstrated during the keynote speech.
Intel’s CEO promised that these devices will be more secure and eliminate the discussion on trade-offs for computing, like form factor, user interface or performance. He also said Ultrabooks will offer a flagship platform for a premium, no-compromise environment that helps deliver on the Microsoft* Windows* 8 promise of re-imagining Windows.
Applications specifically suited for the Ultrabook are available from the Intel AppUpSM center, a one-stop shop for the latest PC apps.
