CES: Asus will not release its 7in Tegra 3 tablet in the UK Source: The Inquirer (http://s.tt/15bXM)

Will bring Padfone hybrid to the UK market instead

TAIWANESE HARDWARE MAKER Asus has confirmed that it does not plan to release its 7in tablet with a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor in the UK.
The Asus unveiled its 7in tablet on Monday at CES with a price tag of just $249 (£160) and the lack of availability in the UK is likely to leave many consumers disappointed.
"In the UK we don't see a demand for the 7in tablet at the moment and we will be focusing on releasing a Padfone, which is a smartphone and tablet hybrid. This will be formally announced at Mobile World Congress [MWC] next month," John Swatton, marketing manager for Asus in the UK told The INQUIRER.
"Asus hasn't sold a branded smartphone in the UK, so there is no user base for 3G devices at present."
Asus gave THE INQUIRER a sneak peek at the the Padfone, which comes in two parts. Users will get a smartphone running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and be able to slot this into the back of a 10in tablet that displays content directly from the handset.

The Padfone debuted at Computex last year, and although Asus has yet to reveal its full specifications, it did confirm that the smartphone and tablet components will share the SIM card, processor and operating system.
"The 10in tablet is not intended to be a standalone tablet, but it will have some features that can be used independently of the phone. Full specifications together with pricing and availability date will be announced at MWC," Swatton said.
He also confirmed that the firm's highly anticipated Transformer Prime hybrid device will start shipping in the UK on 12 January and that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for it will be made available almost immediately.

[TOOL][WINDOWS][Updated 1.4.12]viperMOD Primer v1 - Easily Root OR Unroot your Prime!

I'm not too creative with names, but I did create a Windows (Linux coming) rooting helper to make the NachoRoot process a little bit simpler, and here is viperMOD Primer! First, I do want to thank jcase and TeamAndIRC for the root method that this program uses. I hope you all will donate to him so that he can get a Prime! Now, here is how it works...

Download the .zip
Plug in your Transformer and make sure to install the drivers located in the included .zip
Run the viperMOD Primer Tool.exe and choose an option.
???
Profit?

It's as simple as that! I have tested this about 30 times (both rooting and unrooting) and it works just fine! Everytime you run the root process, it will download a fresh copy of NachoRoot (could be updates, even if the tool isn't updated) Any issues or questions, please feel free to post here! Enjoy your rooted Prime

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime statement

Thank you very much for all of the support you have given to ASUS. Eee Pad Transformer Prime received excellent reviews and great demand when it launched in December 2011. Now, we are continuing to make the Transformer Prime available in the worldwide market, and doing our best to fulfill the incredible demand. ASUS strives to create the best products and provide the best service for our customers, and will be releasing an FOTA update for the Transformer Prime shortly. This update, version 8.8.3.33, will improve the focus of the camera, the fluidity of the touch experience, and the APK capabilities in Android Market.

ASUS has been working hard to make the highly anticipated Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich available on the Transformer Prime, and today, we have good news for you. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich FOTA worldwide update for the Transformer Prime will start from Jan 12th, 2012. Thank you for your patience and support through this process.

In addition, we would like to address your concerns related to GPS and bootloader on the Transformer Prime.

The ASUS Transformer Prime is made from a metallic unibody design, so the material may affect the performance of the GPS when receiving signals from satellites. Please note that this product is not a professional GPS device, and signal performance can be easily influenced by factors including, but not limited to: weather, buildings, and surrounding environments. Please understand there are limitations when using the GPS function. To avoid inconveniencing users who demand a powerful GPS device, we made the decision to remove it from our specification sheet and marketing communications. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Regarding the bootloader, the reason we chose to lock it is due to content providers' requirement for DRM client devices to be as secure as possible. ASUS supports Google DRM in order to provide users with a high quality video rental experience. Also, based on our experience, users who choose to root their devices risk breaking the system completely. However, we know there is demand in the modding community to have an unlocked bootloader. Therefore, ASUS is developing an unlock tool for that community. Please do note that if you choose to unlock your device, the ASUS warranty will be void, and Google video rental will also be unavailable because the device will be no longer protected by security mechanism.

Thank you for all the understanding and support for the ASUS Transformer Prime. Happy New Year!

NEW ASUS EEE PAD TABLET AT CES 2012: FIRST PHOTOS

In recent weeks, we reported rumors about the possible news that Asus will present to the CES 2012. According to these rumors, the Taiwanese company was planning to launch a 7-inch tablet cheap, with a price of about $ 299. For analysts sector would, in particular, an Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime Mini 7 inch , to complement the existing 10-inch model. Its smaller size and weight significantly below may assist the user on the move in search of a tablet as "pocket". Probably, for this version, Asus have created a mini keyboard docking can transform the netbook into a tablet, may be less comfortable than his elder brother.

Alongside the launch of a 7-inch Asus Prime Transformer , Network also makes its way into the news that Asus will lead to a CES 2012 "chatted" refresh Asus Eee Memo Pad . According to rumors, Asus Eee Memo Pad should incorporate a 7-inch capacitive screen (1280x800 pixels), Qualcomm processor Snapdradron dual core 1.2GHz, 16GB to 64GB of flash memory, 3G and WiFi module, and of course the Android operating system. There is also a 3D version.
Among the changes, we also remember Asus Padfone , a device that combines the power of a 4.3-inch Android smartphone with those of a 10-inch tablet. Previewed at Computex 2011, Padfone should officially debut on the market in February 2012, although currently there is no official confirmation on dates.
Could belong to just one of these three devices that we propose today the image preview.
As you can see, the tablet in question is definitely smaller than a 10-inch model , but we can not determine whether it is a version 7 inch (Asus Eee Asus Eee Pad Memo Pad or Prime Transformer 7) or less (Asus Padfone ?). Apparently, the device recalls the lines and the overall design or an Asus Eee Prime Transformer Pad MeMo redesigned compared to the original versions. The display is glossy type (glossy) and the Asus logo is evident on the frame. The operating system Android .
We meet the second week of January, at CES 2012, to discover what the mysterious tablet image.
