Google Offers Free WiFi for India: but will they censor content?

Google has announced that it is to offer free WiFi acrossIndia, in an attempt to promote the use of their social network Google+, andaffiliated sites such as YouTube. There is currently less than 10% Internetpenetration in India, this service will greatly benefit consumers in India. Ofcourse, it will also benefit Google, whose Android phones are in competitionwith other popular smartphones such as the BlackBerryBellagio and the Nokia Lumia.

However, the announcement comes at an interesting time, after Delhi High Court ordered Google India, along with Facebook India, tomoderate their content, or face being blocked. Justice Suresh Kaitsaid “LikeChina, we will block all such websites.”

It has been argued in response to this that Google is notresponsible for third-party content, making it unfeasible for the search engineto really be blocked. Mukul Rohatgi testified that “No human interference ispossible, and moreover, it can’t be feasible to check such incidents. Billionsof people across the globe post their articles on the website. Yes, they may bedematory, obscene, but cannot be checked.”

It seems that Google in India may be safe for now. But howwill they make sure that people access the Google websites, rather thancompetitors? They’re offering the free WiFi on the basisof unlimited usage of Google+, and ten minutes of access to YouTube. Users whowish to access other websites will pay by the minute, limiting access to rivalsites such as Facebook and Yahoo.

Google is offering this service in association with O-ZoneNetworks. O-Zone Networks CEO Sanjeev Sarin said: “This is a first-of-its-kindpromotional tie-up. This association between Google India and O-Zone Networksreinforces the fact that people are now realising the power of Wi-Fi.”

For your information, presently O-Zone network has 5,000Wi-Fi access points across India and these access points includes  McDonalds, CafĂ© Oz, Cafe Coffee Day CostaCoffee, Subway, OM Bookshop and Coffee Bean.

What do you think about Google’s move to provide free WiFiin India, do share your thoughts in comment section below.

The power of cameraphones

Not so long ago, mobile phones were usedfor making phone calls, or sending text messages. Later, you could buy mobilephones with an inbuilt camera, but it served more as a novelty, and any moreserious photography than a blurry shot of your friends required a separatedigital camera, purchased for more money than you would have liked to havespent, and forgotten at home whenever anything surprising or picture-worthyhappened.

Now, mobile phones come with an inbuilt,high-quality camera. They're more portable than digital cameras. and you canupload your photos to the Internet with ease. One of the first affordabledigital cameras was the Kodak DC40, released in 1996, which came with just athird of a megapixel. Now, popular smartphones like the iPhone 4S or the BlackBerryBold 9790 pack 8 megapixels, along with a host of  additional features like sophisticated flashmechanisms, special lenses and artistic photo editing software. What's more, the iPhone or BlackBerryBold price is significantly less than you would have paid for the digitalcamera alone all those years ago.

It's not just photos of our pets orchildren, either. Along with social media, cameraphone pictures have played amajor role in the transmission of news stories such as the Arab Spring. Policebrutality captured on film by Egyptian social media activists caused millions ofprotestors to take to the streets to demand the end of dictatorial regimes.

Furthermore, a recent study from theNetherlands showed that cameraphones can play a vital role in medicaldiagnostics, especially in remote or rural areas. The study by Coosje Tuijn ofthe Royal Tropical Institute showed that a two megapixel camera can captureclear microscopy images that could be sent to a website for analysis by aspecialist. The specialist could then email or SMS feedback back to thepatient. "Such technological advances could improve diagnosis inperipheral health settings by empowering under-educated and insufficientlyexperienced health care and laboratory workers to meet quality standards,"concluded Tuijn.

The increasing accessibility, versatilityand sharability of mobile photography indicates that this is only the tip ofthe iceberg of what we can expect from cameraphones, and the coming months andyears will only continue to demonstrate their power.

Mobile doctors : All You Need To Know

PDAs and smartphones are making the life ofdoctors much easier, with fast access to medical digital libraries and storageof complex files. Doctors can also access drug reference databases, treatmentguidelines, clinical and medical references, product updates and medical news.

Even though PDAS and smartphones wereoriginally designed to aid work in the business and corporate world, thedevelopment of specialities software and applications have made it possible forthose devices to become a work tool for professionals from a variety ofbackgrounds. According to research carried out by Manhattan Research, around64% of American doctors use smartphones and PDAS at work. In this community,BlackBerries devices are the most common.

This phenomenon is yet to catch on inIndia, where only 15% of doctors regard their smartphone as essential for theirprofession, according to a report by Research at Tavess. The report remarkedthat although Indian doctors are not immune to the benefits of new technology,India's large proportion of older and rural doctors means that they areunfamiliar with how to use smartphones.

This problem could be addressed with theprovision of phones that are easy to use, and have intuitive interfaces. Forexample, the BlackBerryBold 9790 features both a classic QWERTY keyboard and a responsivetouchscreen, which maximises its usability. The BlackBerry Bold priceis also in a reasonable range for doctors.

In addition to this, Tavess Researchrecommend initiatives that give an opportunity to 'try' and get 'educated', toovercome the barrier of unfamiliarity.

There are a number of provisions already inplace in mobile, which Indian doctors ought to harness. Currently, Mobile PDR,Skyscape, Mobile Micromedex, Lexi-COMPLETE, Thomson Clinical Xpert, MobileMerckMedicus and MDConsult Mobile are the most widely used drug referenceresources on mobile. On the app front WebMD, UpToDate, MDConsult Mobile,MedScape, etc. are apps most widely used by physicians.

The debate: QWERTY vs. touchscreen

QWERTY or touchscreen - which do youprefer? The debate rages on, and a consensus is yet to be reaches.

PDAs with touchscreens have been around foryears, but not until the launch of the iPhone in 2007 did the technology reallybecome usable, and the craze really take off. However, the iconic QWERTYkeyboard still retains its popularity, and the divide has become a source ofcontention between mobile users.

The debate: QWERTY vs. touchscreen

Touchscreens offer a number of advantages. The QWERTY keyboard was originally developed to slow down typists in the dayswhen print hammers could get tangled - touchscreens abandon these outdatedconcerns. The sleekness and simplicity of just one screen is also better suitedto devices largely used for consuming rather than inputting content. However, many tech aficionados complain that touchscreens lack the tactile familiarityof a real keyboard, as well as slowing down the speed at which emails or textmessages can be sent off.

If you do prefer keyboards, there are stilla number of factors to consider. Keys are large enough for your fingers, enoughspace between the keys, and the amount they depress can all affect how easy thekeyboard is to use. Keyboard phones are also likely to be wider than those witha touchscreen, so if compactness is important for you, you might want to thinkagain.

If you're still undecided, perhaps the bestbet is a phone that combines the convenience of a touchscreen with theold-school reliability of a QWERTY keyboard. A number of phones tap into thisneed - for example, the new BlackBerryBold 9790 (otherwise known as the BlackBerryBellagio) offers a responsive touchscreen as well as the classic BlackBerryQWERTY keyboard. A number of Android phones also offer both input methods, butit's unlikely that Apple are ever going to ditch the touchscreen-only buildthat's brought them so much success and inspired so many copycats.

3 Ways to Prepare Your Blog for Christmas

Christmas is a time of celebration, everybody knows that. And everywhere you visit around the world, both offline and online, only remindyou of it. And we must agree that Christmas also has its effect on us bloggers. If you are a blogger who schedules 5 to 10 articles for your blog on normaldays, I bet you’ll only be able to do half of that now. And going this way canonly reduce the traffic and rankings of your blog, if you can’t find somethingto do.

3 Ways to Prepare Your Blog for Christmas

Given, you can’t blot out yourself from the merry andcelebrations going around just because you want to focus your attention on yourblog and on the other hand, you can’t leave your blog to die for the sake ofChristmas. There has to be a way to do things without making one suffer for thesake of the other. And this is when the tips I’ll be sharing in this articlebecome relevant.

Start GeneratingIdeas When you Have the Chance

Generating ideas for your future blog posts is one of thebest ways to prepare your blog for this Christmas. If you are the type thatwrites quality articles for your blog every day, you’ll want to agree with methat when you have ideas for the article you want to write for your blog, halfof your work is done!
So if you are only left with half of the amount of time youusually had, having your post ideas ready can help you maximize your time andalso help you keep your blog going.
At least, I have more than twenty post ideas for my diamondinternational discounts and allurez coupon blog which I plan to use during theChristmas.

Schedule Your BlogPosts Ahead

Another great way to make sure your blog stays afloat duringthis festive period is by scheduling your articles for the days you know youwon’t have the opportunity to write any. If there is any better way to do this,it is by making yourself write more articles than you initially do now. If youalways write two articles before, you can write four and schedule the other twoto publish on a later day, advisable on a very busy day.
And if doing this is going to be stiff for you, you may haveto consider doing what I’m sharing below.

Hire Writers orRequest for Guest Posts

Hiring writers can be a bit expensive but it’s worth it whenyou consider the benefit you are going to derive from it. When you’ll be busywith your friends during Christmas, your writers can be writing blog posts foryour blog without you having to do the job yourself.
If your budget will not allow you to hire writers, you cando it in a simpler way, by asking people to write for you as guest authors. Manypeople will be willing to give you an article for free in exchange for abacklink on your blog.

John Edget blogs and writes for a coupon blog which features diamond international coupons and allurez coupons. He has free Allurez Coupon and Diamonds International Coupon for you on his blog.

3 Effective Ways to Build Backlinks to a Blog

Building backlinks to a blog comes with many benefits. As a blogger, I’ve been striving to build a lot of backlinks to my weight watchers discounts and diet to go coupons blog. And during the process of doing this, I’ve learnt some effective ways to build backlinks to a blog. It’s not all the many ways people find easy to build backlinks to their blogs are rewarding. That is why you need to define what methods will be rewarding for you and your blog.
The search engine optimization or SEO benefits you’ll derive from building effective backlinks to your blog can double your search engine traffic almost overnight. What are these effective ways to build backlinks to a blog?

Guest Blogging

Guest blogging, perhaps the best way you could build backlinks and drive targeted traffic to your blog, is an easy but yet effective way you can build backlinks to your blog. The most successful blogs have several guest posts with backlinks to their blogs. Aside the SEO benefit your blog is going to derive from your doing guest post for your blog, you are also going to gain new set of audience to your blog which is a very rewarding thing.
If you can work towards doing up to five guest posts to your blog every month, you are sure going to make your blog grow rapidly.

Blog Commenting

Blog commenting, though it looks obvious, is still very effective in building backlinks to a blog only if done the right way. Many bloggers when doing blog commenting do not even bother to confirm that the blogs they are commenting on is a “do-follow” comment enabled blog. You have to know that it’s not the quantity of comments you make that determines the quality of rankings your blog is going to get but the quality.
Another important thing you should always take note of before commenting on a blog is to read the article and make sure you understand the content before commenting on it. You might be surprised to find out that your comment may be deleted if you did not read the content of that blog before commenting on it.

Link Exchange

Link exchange is one of the most utilized ways of building backlinks to blogs. It is well used but still very effective. If you don’t understand the concept of link exchange, it involves you allowing a blogger to have a link of is blog on your own blog while he also reciprocates the same for you.
Though link exchange has been argued to be a wrong method of doing backlinks, it is still very effective and helps bloggers exchange audiences. It also improves your search engine rankings. If you could manage to exchange links with over ten bloggers, that literarily means you have ten links pointing to your blog.

Conclusion:

The backlink building methods I have shared with you in this post are only going to work you if you follow the rules binding them. Building backlinks is not a bad idea, it can help you grow you blog significantly.
