HP Turns WebOS into an Open Source Project



Hewlett-Packard Co (HP) announces on  Friday that they are turning webOS into an

open source project.Earlier it was speculated that HP's webOS will be going

away.

For those who dont know what HP's webOS is all about, it is an OS which is based on Linux kernel.

Also it was initially developed by Palm, which was later acquired by HP for US$1.2 billion.


How webOS will work in the future : 


The webOS will be offered under a license that lets hardware manufacturers and

software developers access its source code and use it freely in products.



Palo Alto, California-based company said HP will remain active in developing and

supporting WebOS.



How much it will help webOS to stay in the hunt to servive and how developers
